English lexicology is one of the most complex fields in the English language studies that aims at examining the processes of word-formation in English as well as the evolution of its vocabulary and, in case of such branch of lexicology as lexicography, the composition of English dictionaries. In plain language, lexicology is the study of the meaning and uses of words.
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of English lexicology and to provide them with a profound understanding of the main problems associated with English vocabulary. Having completed the given course, students are expected to broaden their linguistic horizons and to become more word-conscious.
